Black Friday and Cyber Monday (BFCM) are critical moments for ecommerce. To ensure Searchspring remains stable and reliable during these high-traffic days, we’re implementing a code freeze and a publishing pause to minimize risk and keep your site running smoothly.
What’s the difference between a code freeze and a publishing pause?
Code freeze
Our Product Engineering team will pause changes to the deployed platform, services, and core product features. This ensures stability by avoiding updates that could introduce unforeseen issues during peak sales periods.
Publishing pause
Our Support, ProServ, and Implementation teams will pause any changes to your site implementation—such as custom filters, scripts, new integrations, or in-progress projects—to keep your current setup stable.
Why we have a code freeze
Ensure consistent uptime
Even minor downtime can impact BFCM revenue. A code freeze prevents unexpected updates or changes that could affect site availability or performance.
Avoid unintended changes
Pausing both platform and implementation updates reduces the risk of bugs or errors close to key sales days.
Simplify troubleshooting
If an issue arises, fewer moving parts make it easier to diagnose and fix quickly. You can focus on other areas of your tech stack.
Start 2026 seamlessly
After the code freeze, we’ll carefully deploy a “code thaw” with pending updates and features in a thoroughly tested and stable environment—ensuring no disruptions during peak shopping season.
